Changing Behavior, Enriching Lives
A cat is a pleasure to have as a friend and companion, but behavior problems can hurt the human-animal bond. One of our goals is to help people and their cats live in harmony. Our second and equally important goal is to support the behavioral health and well-being of all animals.
Our team focuses on the Five Pillars of a Healthy Feline Environment.
1. Safe places to hide
2. Multiple and separate key environmental resources: water, food, litter box, scratching areas
3. Opportunities for play including predatory play that mimics natural hunting behavior
4. Positive and predictable human social interactions
5. Respecting their sense of smell.
At our behavior exam, we will do a physical exam and any necessary lab work to make sure there are no medical issues. We will address the home environment and make recommendations. Sometimes we do need to think about medical therapy or supplements to help your feline. An accurate assessment is critical to successful management.
